Jesus reminded us how important children should be to us. We try to take his teaching to heart by offering several classes for our children. Please look over the wonderful educational opportunities available at South Street.

Children Worship and Wonder
Children Worship and Wonder is a method of Christian education that strives to teach children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action - to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives. It is based on the teaching methods developed by Maria Montessori, which include self-motivation, freedom for physical activity (no stationary desks or chairs), informal and individual instruction, and development of sensory and motor skills through the use of manipulatives to help illustrate stories. Each week a story-teller and door person who have been trained in the Montessori method provide leadership for this group.
Children Worship and Wonder meets on the south end of the education building's main floor during both church school and worship. Preschoolers attend during the church school hour and elementary children attend during the worship hour.
Nursery Care
A nursery is available from 9:00 am until the end of worship each Sunday morning. Care is provided by a trained and experienced staff and available for infants up to two years of age. The nursery is located on the main floor of the education building.
Toddlers
Toddlers (2-3 year olds) meet in the room next to the nursery. They use the "Grow, Proclaim, Serve!" curriculum. Classes for toddlers are available during church school and worship.
Beginnings
Beginnings is our class for preschool children (3-5 year olds). This class combines art, stories, dance, laughter, and imagination using the "Grow, Proclaim, Serve!" curriculum. Children are also given a page of family activities that can be used throughout the week. It meets on Sunday mornings from 9:45 - 11:15 on the main floor of the education building.
Kindergarten-Elementary
This class uses the "Grow, Proclaim, Serve!" curriculum, which encourages children to see and live their belief in God through music, art, theater, dance, laughter, sign language, discussion, imagination, sight, sound, graphics, games, crafts, stories, worship, and prayer. This class meets on the thrid floor of the education building (on the south side) during the church school hour.
Junior Youth Group
In addition to Sunday morning activities, children in grades 2-5 are invited to participate in our monthly Junior Youth activities. To find out what the Junior Youth Group is doing this month, check out our calendar.
